Timothy A. Peterson
Chief Investment Officer
Mr. Peterson serves as Chief Investment Officer of White Oak Development, where he is responsible for the firm’s investment strategy, capital formation, capital markets activities, and asset management. He works closely with White Oak’s CEO and executive team to drive the company’s long-term growth and strategic initiatives.
Mr. Peterson brings more than 35 years of real estate experience, including over 30 years focused on multifamily investment, development, finance, and asset management. He has overseen more than $10 billion of real estate development, financing, acquisitions, and dispositions across both public and private markets on behalf of institutional investors, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals.
Prior to joining White Oak Development, Mr. Peterson served in a variety of leadership roles at Altman Living including COO and CIO. Earlier in his career, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of a publicly traded real estate investment trust and as Executive Vice President of Post Properties, where he had overall responsibility for the company’s financial operations, including management of its initial public offering.
Mr. Peterson also served on the Board of Directors of Preferred Apartment Communities (NYSE: APTS) from its initial public offering in 2011 through its acquisition by Blackstone in 2022, where he chaired the Audit Committee. He is a past Co-Chair of the Accounting Committee of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT). He currently serves on the Board of the University of Florida Foundation and the Executive Committee of the University of Florida Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies Advisory Board, is a member of the advisory board of ULI Southeast Florida/Caribbean and participates in ULI’s Bronze Multifamily Council.
Mr. Peterson earned both his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and his Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Florida. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive). Outside of work, Tim enjoys traveling with his family and playing golf.
